For those who believe that Valentine’s Day is more or less a pointless holiday, then keep reading. If you think that being single on V-Day is sad, you are quite wrong my friend. As someone who has experienced what it’s like to be single on February 14th, I am here to tell you that there are many ways to make this holiday the best one of the year and one that you never have to fear again.

1. Stock Up on the Booze

Now I understand that drinking is not for everyone, but it certainly helps this day fly by faster than usual. Whether your drink of choice is wine, vodka, tequila, rum, whisky, etc…, I suggest making a quick trip to Costco and stocking up on a variety of alcohol just in case you run out of one especially soon.

2. Gather the Squad

Having a solid group of single friends on this day is especially helpful. You can all gather around and share your hilarious stories about being single on V-Day and recite instances of your worst, but most memorable dating experiences. This is where the abundance of alcohol comes in to play, as a tart wine or refreshing mojito makes story-telling that much more enjoyable.

3. Dig In

Watching your diet? Make Wednesday, Feb 14th your cheat day. We all love food and know that food makes life that much more enjoyable. Whether your guilty pleasure is pizza, ramen, a carne asada burrito, or Chinese food, this V-Day you are allowed to indulge in your favorite grub and let the orange chicken soothe your single soul.

4. Get Swole

This one may be a little contradictory to the previous few, but it is a personal favorite. Going to the gym or a killer workout class when you are feeling down on yourself or whatnot, has got to be one of the best mood-boosters out there. There is nothing better than improving yourself and engaging a peaceful state of mind, especially if you feel like an outsider on this V-Day.

5. Go to the Beach

It has been proven that the ocean induces a peace of mind and can be used as a powerful source of therapy for individuals struggling with anxiety and/or depression. Whether you want to make a solo trip to the beach or gather the buds for a singles only bonfire, it is a guarantee that you will come out of the night more relaxed than ever, and even forget about your worries this February 14th.
